UNG Keo Morakod
Intern
Morakod is an intern at the CDRI Data Hub. She is currently working on a study about the reintegration pathways of Cambodia’s returnee migrants following the Thai-Cambodian border conflict.
Before joining CDRI, she was a research intern for a UCL Global Engagements study about the experiences of Mexican families with a pre-term baby during prolonged hospitalisation. She examined how rural-to-urban migration affected the families’ experience of a new city, in addition to how they participated in their baby’s care while admitted to a public hospital and separated from familiar social networks.
Morakod is particularly interested in qualitative methodologies and in the use of creative methods like photography in social science research. Her broader research interests include the sociology of health, urban sociology and urbanisation processes in Southeast Asia.
Morakod holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and will begin a post-graduate degree in City Planning in September 2026.
